About ALS Counselling

Welcome to ALS Counselling

My name is Anita Stewart and I am a Registered Counsellor. I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association and have been qualified for 4 years.

In addition to my Counselling qualification, I am also a Registered Nurse and have had over 15 years of nursing experience including experience working in mental health.

My Counselling philosophy is based on having unconditional positive regard for all clients. Inherent in this is a non-judgmental, accepting and collaborative approach with treatment goals and strategies introduced with the collaboration and input of the client.

My work experience spans the health and education sectors, in both public and private settings. In addition to my extensive nursing experience, I have also gained valuable experience working in high schools, both as a nurse and counsellor. I greatly enjoy working with and connect well with adolescents and young people, and have a good understanding of the many issues which they are faced with.

Issues raised by clients in Counselling vary from person to person. Matters such as anxiety, fear, feeling sad, friendship issues, workplace issues, family breakdowns, stress, teenage issues, relationship matters and grief are some of the issues that I can assist clients to talk about and work through. Each person is unique – so too are personal problems. Counselling can assist clients to discuss any type of problem and develop strategies to work through these.

I look forward to meeting you one day.
